Assam VIP Seat: In politics, along with hard work, luck also matters. The results of Assam Assembly Elections 2026 will come on April 4. Voting has taken place on 126 assembly seats of Assam state. A total of 722 candidates are in the fray in this election, in which the reputation of many veteran leaders is at stake. The biggest face in this election battle is Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Sarma is contesting from his traditional seat Jalukbari. The public’s eyes are fixed on the BIP seats of the state. While BJP campaigned among the public on the claims of development in the state, Congress sought votes from the public in the name of change.

While Congress has fielded Bidisha Neog from here against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, veteran Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi is trying his luck from Jorhat seat. Gogai is contesting against BJP’s Hitendra Nath Goswami. Similarly, the political equation of the alliance turned the election into an interesting contest.
This time the election is mainly between two big groups. On one side is the ruling BJP alliance, which includes parties like Assam Gana Parishad and UPPL. On the other hand, the Congress-led opposition alliance is ‘Assam Samhed Morcha’.

At the same time, Badruddin Ajmal’s party AIUDF is also trying to strengthen its hold. This time Ajmal is contesting from Binnakandi seat. BJP has left this seat against him for its ally AGP. Apart from this, the special thing is that Akhil Gogoi from Sibsagar seat and Lurinjyoti Gogoi from Khowang seat are also increasing the strength of the opposition alliance.

In terms of number of candidates, Congress seems to be at the forefront. Congress has fielded its candidates on 99 seats, while BJP is contesting on 90 seats. Talking about other parties, AIUDF is registering its presence on 30 seats, AGP 26 and BPF 11 seats. Aam Aadmi Party has also fielded candidates on 18 seats.

The majority figure to capture power in Assam is 64. Now on May 4, it will become clear whether the public has approved BJP’s development claims or Congress’s promise of change.
