Lotus blossomed in Assam Dholai, BJP defeated Congress by 44 thousand!
If we talk about Dholai assembly constituency, it is a big village located in Narsinghpur tehsil of Cachar district of Assam. The seat is reserved for Scheduled Castes and is one of the seven parts of Silchar Lok Sabha constituency.
Dholai seat was built in 1967. Since then, 13 assembly elections have been held. In these 13 elections, by-elections were also held twice, in 1970 and 2024. The BJP won here for the first time in 1991 and has made it its stronghold since then.
While BJP won the Dholai seat six times, Congress won the seat five times. In the first two elections (1967 and 1970 by-elections), the Nationalist Janata Congress and an independent candidate had won once each.
The final voter list for the 2026 assembly elections had 196,571 voters in the Dholai seat, an increase from 192,938 voters in 2024.
Dholai is located about 25-30 km from the district headquarters Silchar. This seat falls in Narsinghpur tehsil area. If we talk about railway station, there is no station within a radius of 30 kilometers of Dholai. The nearest railway station is Silchar Railway Station, about 35 kilometers away.
