Country’s victory in Bengal, there will be development in Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma statement!

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has registered a landslide victory in the Assam Assembly elections. The party has secured 82 seats in the 126-seat assembly. Once again, NDA government is going to be formed in Assam under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma with an overwhelming majority.

Giving credit for this victory to the people of Assam and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that now a new wave of development will come in the state. Speaking to IANS, CM Himanta said, “This is a huge victory. Many thanks to the people of Assam for this. We are very grateful for the confidence that people have shown in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now more development work will be done. Ganga of development will flow in Assam.”

On BJP’s victory in Bengal elections, Sarma called it ‘victory for the country’. He said, “BJP’s victory will play a big role in securing East and North-East India. I had said yesterday also and will say today also that BJP has not won Bengal, but the country has won Bengal.”

Responding to a question on the priorities of the incoming BJP government, Sarma said, “Just give me time, as soon as the government is formed, I will keep giving information about it.”

Taking a tough stance on Bangladeshi infiltration, the Chief Minister said, “This campaign will continue. The fight for our identity will continue.” Regarding fencing on the border, he said that the Union Home Minister has already announced and the work will start soon. Taking a jibe at Congress, Himanta Sarma said, “There is no possibility of Congress coming and they should not come either.”

Meanwhile, on the anticipatory bail of Congress spokesperson Pawan Kheda, Sarma said, “Right now he has only got bail, he has not been released from the case. The case against him will continue.” Himanta further said sarcastically that after winning the elections we ate peda. Now if I eat bigger peda, I will call everyone.

According to the election results, BJP won 82 seats, while the main opposition Congress was reduced to just 19 seats. Apart from this, BOPF and AGP have got 10 seats.
