Mamata Banerjee’s seat removed from the Assembly, a second seat will be set up for new CM Suvendu Adhikari:

The chair used by former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the state Assembly for the past 15 years has been shifted to the Leader of the Opposition’s room following the change of power in the state. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari will not use the former Chief Minister’s chair and a separate chair has been arranged for him in the Chief Minister’s chamber, a senior official said on Saturday.

Suvendu Adhikari was sworn in as Chief Minister on Saturday afternoon. The wooden chair was moved on Friday night as part of an administrative reshuffle after the new government assumed power.

Reforms being made for the new administration

Officials said the room where Mamata Banerjee’s chair now stands is expected to be used by the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. A senior state official said, “As per established protocol, the furniture and official symbols designated for the former Chief Minister have been removed. Necessary improvements are being made for the new administration.”
