Ravinderpal Singh broke Ponting’s record

Ravinderpal Singh surprised the world by scoring a century on his T20 International debut in the year 2019. He scored a brilliant century in his very first match against Cayman Islands and became the first batsman in the world to achieve this special feat. His innings also broke the long standing record of Ricky Ponting. Ponting had scored unbeaten 98 runs against New Zealand in 2005 and this record remained intact for 14 years.

New record made again after two days

Just two days after Ravinderpal Singh’s historic century, another batsman scored a century in his debut match. JP Kotze, playing for Namibia, scored unbeaten 101 runs against Botswana. With this, he became the second batsman in the world to score a century on T20 International debut. Two consecutive debut centuries had made a lot of headlines in the cricket world.

Biggest innings in the name of Matthew Spurs

Matthew Spoors created a new history by scoring unbeaten 108 runs against Philippines in 2022. He became the batsman who played the biggest innings in the debut T20 International match. His brilliant innings got him a special place in the record books. In the same year, Leslie Dunbar also registered her name in this special club by scoring 104 runs on debut.

Till now only four batsmen have achieved the feat

So far in T20 International history, only four batsmen have been able to score a century in their debut match. No player has achieved this feat since 2022. This is the reason why this record is considered very special and rare even today.
