President Murmu honored 15 people associated with the nursing profession for their excellent service, JP Nadda was also present.
New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday presented the ‘National Florence Nightingale’ Awards for the year 2026 to 15 nursing professionals for their exemplary contribution and service in strengthening public healthcare.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said, “Nursing personnel exemplify the highest standards of service and play a vital role in providing quality healthcare, often even in the most challenging circumstances. I congratulate all the award winners for their inspiring devotion to duty and their tireless efforts in maintaining the highest standards of patient care.”
A total of 15 nurses from different sectors and healthcare institutions were honored for their unwavering dedication towards strengthening public healthcare and their outstanding commitment towards the welfare of the community. These awards were presented at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of Union Health Minister JP Nadda. In his message, the President said that this is an occasion to pay due respect to the invaluable contribution of nursing personnel and healthcare professionals who serve the nation with compassion and unwavering dedication.
The ‘National Florence Nightingale’ Award, instituted by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, recognizes the dedication, compassion and fighting spirit of nursing professionals including registered nurses, midwives, auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) and women health nurses working in the Central and State Governments, Union Territories and voluntary organizations.
The award consists of a certificate of merit, a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a medal. The award recipients included six ANMs and nine nurses from different parts of the country including Ladakh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Delhi, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep.
