Tata can bring such a car which will run on 85% ethanol fuel, the cost will also be less

Flex Fuel Vehicle In India: India is now moving towards an environment-friendly fuel that reduces petrol consumption and curbs pollution, and in this direction, E20 petrol has started being made available across the country from April 1, 2026. Which means that now 20 percent ethanol is being mixed in petrol. Ethanol means biofuel prepared from sugarcane, corn and other crops, which is better for the environment. Interestingly, the government had set the target of implementing E20 by 2030 but the new demise was achieved before the scheduled time. Now the government aims to promote more ethanol blended fuels like E85 and E100.

Now flex-fuel cars will come

If we look at the present times, there are very few vehicles in India which run on high ethanol fuel. But big companies like Maruti Suzuki, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Tata Motors are working rapidly on their flex-fuel technology. Talking about flex-fuel, these are such cars which can easily run on both petrol and high ethanol mixed fuel. Due to which users get more options in fuel. Which will also reduce the dependence on oil in the coming time.

Tata Motors may launch the first flex-fuel car

It is being said in media reports that Tata Motors may soon launch its first flex-fuel car in late 2026 or early 2027. Regarding this, the company’s MD and CEO Shailesh Chandra said that the company is busy preparing to launch at least one flex-fuel vehicle. The company has also informed that its existing engines have already been designed for E20 petrol and now the focus is on developing engines for fuel with more ethanol.

This model can be run on E85 fuel, which simply means that petrol mixed with up to 85 percent ethanol can be used. A 1.2 liter petrol engine will be seen inside this car, which has been designed with special changes which will be able to work easily on different types of fuel.
