PM Modi returned to India after visiting five countries, what did he bring for the country?
The five-nation trip included UAE, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to the national capital on Thursday after visiting five countries. Prime Minister Modi signed several agreements related to energy, defense and critical minerals during his visit. The five countries to which the Prime Minister began his visit on May 15 included the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy.
During this period, India and UAE signed several important agreements related to petroleum reserves, long-term LPG supply, defense and shipping, including a promise by Abu Dhabi to invest a total of five billion US dollars in India.
Amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Prime Minister Modi held high-level talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. After the UAE, the Prime Minister traveled to the Netherlands, where he signed 17 agreements to enhance cooperation in defence, critical minerals and other key sectors.
Following the talks between Prime Minister Modi and his Dutch counterpart Rob Jetten, the two countries elevated their relations to the level of strategic partnership. The two Prime Ministers expressed concern about the situation in West Asia and its implications for the region and beyond, particularly due to oil supply disruptions.
In the next phase of the visit, India and Sweden agreed to elevate their relations to the level of strategic partnership. The meeting between Prime Minister Modi and his Swedish counterpart Ulf Kristersson covered trade, technology, defense and other key areas. Both countries presented an ambitious roadmap covering artificial intelligence, critical minerals, innovation, trade and cultural exchanges.
In Oslo, Prime Minister Modi, in separate meetings with his counterparts from Iceland, Finland and Denmark, discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties in areas such as clean energy, trade, sustainable development and digitalization.
The Prime Minister held a few meetings on the sidelines of the 3rd India-Nordic Summit, in which he held talks with Prime Minister Kristen Frostdottir of Iceland, Prime Minister Petter Orpo of Finland and Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen of Denmark.
India and Norway have further strengthened their ‘Green Strategic Partnership’. Prime Minister Modi and his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Store during the talks discussed the role of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving the ongoing tensions in Ukraine and West Asia.
The two leaders talked about enhancing cooperation in areas such as clean energy, climate change resilience, blue economy, green transportation, digital technology, space and Arctic research.
Blue economy means sustainable use of marine and coastal resources in such a way that there is no harm to the environment and opportunities for economic growth, employment generation and better livelihood are available.
The Prime Minister reached Italy on the last leg of his visit, where he spoke to Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. The aim of the talks between the two leaders was to elevate the relationship between the two countries to the level of a special strategic partnership.
Prime Minister Modi was awarded Sweden’s prestigious highest honor ‘Royal Order of Polar Star’, ‘Degree Commander Grand Cross’ and Norway’s highest civilian honor ‘Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit’.
Also, in Rome, in recognition of Prime Minister Modi’s contribution to food security, sustainable agriculture and rural development, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) honored him with the prestigious ‘FAO Agricola’ Medal.
