What is the condition of people in the country’s hottest city Banda?

Banda Condition: Banda district of Uttar Pradesh is facing the double blow of scorching heat and electricity crisis these days. The temperature is continuously making new records and along with it the demand for electricity is also increasing rapidly. The situation is such that electricity consumption is increasing by more than one MVA (Mega Volt Ampere) every day in Banda. In the first 20 days of the month of May alone, 26 MVA additional load has been recorded here. Meanwhile, local people say that electricity is being cut for several hours.

According to Power Corporation (Transmission) Department, Banda, the demand for electricity is continuously increasing in the month of May. On May 1, the total electricity load in Banda was 179 MVA, which increased to 205 MVA by May 20. In Chitrakoot, till May 1st, electricity consumption was 94 MVA, which has now increased to 105 MVA.

What does the electricity department say?

Power Corporation claims that despite the increasing demand, electricity is being supplied 24 hours a day as per the scheduled schedule in the urban areas of Banda and Chitrakoot. Executive Engineer (Communication) of Banda 220 KV Sub Station Abbas Kazmi said that electricity is being provided for 21 hours 30 minutes in tehsil headquarters and 20 hours in rural areas.

However, people are continuously complaining about power cuts on social media. Many users say that long power cuts are taking place at night and people’s condition has become miserable due to the extreme heat. Tagging UPPCL, social media user Sunil Kumar wrote that there is continuous power cut in Banda at night and there was no power for two hours in Pali Kothi Power House area.

A user named Mahesh Shukla wrote that in Tindwari Road area of ​​Baberu tehsil, power supply remained disrupted from 11 pm to morning, due to which people remained troubled throughout the night. He said that the power crisis between 45 to 48 degree temperature is increasing the problems of the people.

He wrote in another post that there was continuous power interruption in Baberu area from 11 pm to 3:38 am. The supply came only for 5 to 10 minutes in between. He claimed that the same situation has been prevailing for the last several days and people are extremely troubled due to lack of electricity at night.

What is the condition in hospitals?

On the other hand, the effect of the scorching heat and heat wave in Banda district is also visible on the health of the people. With the temperature reaching beyond 48 degrees, the entire city has turned into a furnace. Due to this deadly heat, the number of patients in the district hospital is increasing rapidly. There are long queues of patients suffering from problems like loose motion, stomach ache, fever and diarrhea in the hospital. The wards are full and the situation is such that many patients have to be treated on stretchers and benches.

How many cases in the hospital daily?

The hospital administration says that more than two hundred patients are being admitted every day. Doctors are continuously engaged in treatment, but due to the increasing number of patients, the pressure on the health system has increased. Earlier, about 800 to 900 patients used to reach the district hospital every day, but now this number has increased to beyond 1000 to 1200. As soon as the beds become vacant in the hospital, the patients lying on stretchers are being shifted to the ward.

Water problem in Banda?

People are facing severe water crisis in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. The people of the village along with small children are dependent on well water and they say that this is the only source of drinking water left. Ghasiram Nishad, a villager from Banda, said, “There is a serious problem of drinking water in the gram panchayat. If someone says that the problem has been solved, then look at the crowd of people standing behind here. There is no drinking water. If the water problem is not solved, people will boycott votes in the coming elections. This is the only well from which people are getting drinking water.”

Another villager said, “Everyone is troubled by the water problem, but we are not being heard. Hand pumps are not working in the village. There has been no water supply for the last 15 days.”

How to arrange in Banda?

Cooling points have been arranged at different places through Banda Municipal Council. Where cool water is being provided under the shade. Along with this, DM inspected the hospitals. He gave information on his social media, “During the inspection of the District Hospital and Trauma Center, the officials were instructed to make proper arrangements for cold drinking water, coolers and water coolers to provide relief to the people from the scorching heat.

The Chief Medical Superintendent was also instructed to create a “cooling point” for the patients and their families in the hospital premises. Along with this, a DM had also called a meeting on 20th May. In which, instructions were given that cooling centers should be built in all gram panchayats, tankers should be arranged for drinking water and faulty hand pumps should be repaired immediately.

Along with this, instructions were also given to ensure proper arrangement of water, shade and green fodder in the cowsheds. Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats were also asked to make necessary arrangements.
