Yogi government became strict on electricity crisis, two officials were punished for negligence

Uttar Pradesh:There is an outcry in Uttar Pradesh over the power crisis amid the scorching heat and rising mercury. Taking cognizance of the unannounced and prolonged power cuts in various districts of the state, the Uttar Pradesh Government and the Power Transmission Corporation have adopted a very strict administrative stance. The department has suspended two senior officers with immediate effect on charges of serious negligence and lax attitude in functioning.

According to the information received, Executive Engineer Rahul posted in Ghaziabad has been removed from his post and suspended. Along with this, orders have been issued to attach him to Meerut Chief Engineer’s office. In the same sequence, Executive Engineer Yogesh Kumar working in Meerut has also been criticized and he has also been suspended.

Senior officials of the department say that both the engineers are accused of making major lapses in their responsibilities and such negligence will not be tolerated in future also.

This major action has taken place at a time when many parts of Uttar Pradesh are in the grip of severe heatwave and the temperature has crossed 40 to 45 degrees Celsius. Normal life has become completely disrupted due to long power cuts in many urban and rural areas including Lucknow, Meerut, Gonda, Ghaziabad.

Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati have launched a scathing attack on the government regarding the current electricity system.

Opposition leaders have alleged that the government has completely failed in providing basic facilities to the general public in the scorching heat. Amidst this increasing political and social pressure, the administration has taken this action against negligent officers.
