Big action on online betting network operated from Dubai, three accused including Sonu Fatnani arrested

Raipur. The Crime Branch has achieved great success under the special campaign being run against online betting in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh.

The police have arrested a total of three accused, including Rahul Fatnani, brother of absconding bookie Sonu Fatnani, who is said to be operating online “Naseeb Book” betting based from Dubai, from Tilda on Sunday. Accused Rahul Fatnani is accused of managing betting transactions worth crores of rupees.

Raipur Police Commissioner Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Shukla and Additional Police Commissioner Amit Tukaram Kamble have directed all the officers to take action against cricket betting during IPL.

Raipur Crime Branch Police told in the press conference on Monday evening that the Crime Branch was keeping an eye on the activities of the accused for a long time.

Investigation revealed that the accused were handling financial transactions, operation of accounts and transfer of funds related to online betting. During the action, all three accused were detained from Tilda area.

During the raid, the police seized about Rs 9 lakh in cash, several mobile phones, electronic devices and accounting documents worth crores of rupees from the possession of the accused.

Forensic examination of the seized mobile and digital devices is being done. Investigation has also revealed that the luxurious bungalow of accused Rahul Fatnani is under construction in ward number 5 located in Tilda.

Police suspect that the money earned from online betting has been invested in immovable properties. The accused are also said to have links with bookie Babban Lalwani, arrested earlier in the case.

Here, the search is on for Sonu Fatnani, who is said to be the main operator of the online betting network. Various police teams are continuously raiding possible targets. Officials say that investigation into the case is ongoing and many more names may be revealed in the coming days.
