CPI(M) protest continues outside Vijayan residence against ED raid!

Political uproar has increased in Kerala over the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at the residence of former Chief Minister and senior CPI(M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan. CPI(M) workers staged a massive demonstration outside Vijayan’s residence on Wednesday. The party has described this action as motivated by political vendetta.

Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, reacting to the ED raid, said that the state government or the Home Ministry had no prior information about this action. He said, “The Kerala government or the Home Ministry has no information about this raid.

He did not even ask for any kind of cooperation from us. So we don’t know anything about the details of the raid. This question should be asked to the ED only.”

Chennithala also responded to CPI(M)’s allegations. The party had claimed that the ED raid at the residence of former CM Pinarayi Vijayan was related to Chief Minister V.D. Satheeshan’s recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

To this, Chennithala said, “Everyone in Kerala knows that there was a mutual understanding between the BJP and the CPM. Then what happened to that understanding? They have to tell this to the people of Kerala. We have no connection with the BJP. We are fighting the BJP. We fought both the BJP and the CPM and came to power.”

Ramesh Chennithala said on the case of valuables missing from the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple, “This happened six months ago. Some devotee had donated some gold, which went missing from there. When we got the information, the police investigated and submitted the report to the DGP. I was told that it has been handed over to a committee headed by a district judge at the Padmanabhaswamy temple.”

Meanwhile, CPI(M) MP John Brittas, while talking to the media outside Pinarayi Vijayan’s residence, termed the ED’s action as political vendetta. “I am standing in front of the residence of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is now the leader of the opposition. This is not surprising. It seems to be a case of political vendetta,” he said.

Comrade Pinarayi Vijayan has faced repeated investigations by central agencies. Even during the Emergency he was treated harshly. Many cases were registered against him in the last few years. The people of Kerala are able to understand this so-called political game.”

John Brittas also questioned the role of media. He said, “What is a case of conviction? Only those cases which reach court are highlighted. If there are 1,000 cases, perhaps only 100 of them proceed to court while the remaining 900 cases remain in limbo. This leads to manipulation of facts. It may mislead some sections of the media, but not everyone.”
