Prayagraj. Samajwadi Party on Tuesday held a strong demonstration at the district headquarters in protest against the alleged paper leak, rising inflation, unemployment, women harassment and rising prices of petrol and diesel. Party workers and leaders, raising slogans against the Central and State Government, reached the Collectorate and demonstrated with their demands and later submitted a memorandum to the administration.
As part of the pre-planned programme, a large number of SP workers gathered with banners, posters and party flags in their hands. After this, they marched towards the District Magistrate’s office in the form of a procession. During the demonstration, the workers raised anti-government slogans and prominently raised issues related to youth, farmers, women and the general public.
SP leaders leading the protest alleged that the central and state governments have completely failed to stop the frequent paper leak cases in various competitive examinations. He said that due to repeated leaking of examination papers, the future of lakhs of students and candidates is hanging in the balance. The youth are disappointed and frustrated due to lack of transparency in recruitment processes despite working hard for years.
SP leaders said that unemployment is continuously increasing in the state and adequate employment opportunities are not being provided. He claimed that the government is busy only in making announcements instead of providing employment to the youth. Apart from this, due to rising inflation, the life of the common people is becoming difficult. The increase in prices of petrol and diesel is affecting transportation, food items and daily necessities, which has increased the financial problems of the people.
SP leaders also cornered the government on the issue of women’s safety. He said that incidents of crime against women and daughters are continuously coming to light, due to which questions are being raised on the law and order of the state. It is the responsibility of the government to provide a safe environment to women, but the expected results are not visible in this direction.
Police and administrative officials were also present during the long protest in the Collectorate premises. The demonstration concluded peacefully. After this, the SP delegation submitted a memorandum addressed to the Governor through the District Magistrate and demanded to stop the incidents of paper leaks, control inflation, provide employment to the youth and ensure women’s safety.
