AIMIM becomes a noose around RJD’s neck! Demand for the most special seat in place of Rajya Sabha
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) had not given any vote to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) during the 2025 assembly elections in Bihar last year. Now the same has become a compulsion for AIMIM and RJD. RJD did not include AIMIM in its alliance during the elections. But now such equations have been created in Bihar that RJD will be forced to take AIMIM along.
Understanding its importance, AIMIM has also demanded a seat from RJD for the Legislative Council elections. Actually, elections are to be held on Tuesday, June 18 for 9 seats of Bihar Legislative Council. These elections are held every two years. MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM will participate in this.

Now is the time – AIMIM
In this election, a by-election will also be held on a seat that became vacant after former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar became a Rajya Sabha MP. Akhtarul Iman, president of AIMIM’s Bihar unit, said, ‘When we gave up our claim on a seat in the Rajya Sabha elections and supported the India alliance, Tejashwi Yadav had assured to consider our interests in future. Now the time has come for him to fulfill that promise.
What is the game of Legislative Council seat?
The opposition India Alliance has 35 MLAs in the Bihar Assembly, due to which it can easily win one of the 10 Legislative Council seats. However, its chances on the second seat depend on the support of AIMIM and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLAs and possible cross voting in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) camp.

Condition placed before RJD
Akhtarul Iman said, ‘Our political objective is to defeat communal forces. We know that AIMIM does not have enough MLAs to win a Legislative Council seat on its own and we need the support of other parties. If RJD wants our cooperation in future, then it should give us a chance now.
Five AIMIM MLAs
Bihar AIMIM has five MLAs. Of the Legislative Council seats for which elections are to be held in the state on June 18, RJD holds two seats. One of these seats belongs to Sunil Kumar Singh, a close aide of party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Congress, which has six MLAs in the Bihar Assembly, also has one seat in the Legislative Council, which is currently held by Sameer Kumar Singh. This seat is becoming vacant on 28th June.
Akhtarul Iman said that he will talk to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav to get a seat for the AIMIM candidate in the Legislative Council elections. The nomination process for this election has started from Monday.
