Karnataka’s new Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has divided the departments in the cabinet. DK Shivakumar himself has retained the portfolios of Finance, Cabinet Affairs, Intelligence and Personnel and Administrative Reforms.

Bengaluru: After the formation of the new government in Karnataka, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has formally distributed departments among his cabinet. This decision has come after the change of power in the state and the internal agreement of the Congress leadership, which has given a new direction to the administrative structure. As per the new ministry allocation, the Chief Minister himself will hold several important and strategic portfolios, while other senior leaders have been entrusted with key responsibilities.

Important departments will remain with the Chief Minister

Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar holds the portfolios of Finance, Cabinet Affairs, Intelligence and Personnel and Administrative Reforms. This indicates that he will have direct control over the economic and administrative policies of the state. Through these departments, the Chief Minister will play a central role in revenue management, policy making and operation of the government machinery.

Priyank Kharge got home department

Congress leader Priyank Kharge has been assigned the state home department (except intelligence). Along with this, he has also been given the responsibility of future-focused departments like Information Technology (IT), Biotechnology and e-Governance. This appointment is being considered an important step towards strengthening law and order and digital governance in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Parameshwara has been given the responsibility of revenue and sports departments. The Revenue Department is an important ministry dealing with the financial structure and land management of the state.

  • K.H. Muniyappa – Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs
  • K.J. George – Energy and Tourism
  • M.B. Patil – Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development
  • Ramalinga Reddy – Large and Medium Irrigation
  • Satish Jarkiholi – Public Works Department (PWD)
  • Krishna Byre Gowda — Greater Bengaluru Development
  • U.T. Khadar — Health and Family Welfare
  • Ishwar Khandre – Rural Development and Panchayati Raj
  • Byrathi Suresh – Transport Department
  • Sharan Prakash Patil – Medical Education and Skill Development

According to reports, some of the remaining important departments will be directly under Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. It is clear from this that the role of the Chief Minister in major decisions of the state administration will remain very strong.
