700 dolphins and whales on the beach! Brutal killings in the name of festival, condemned by the whole world

There are hundreds of dead bodies of dolphins and whales lying on the beach. The sea is red with blood. To see the hellish scene, along with the elders, the small group also gathered. A group of people are perversely cheering to see the helpless animals squirming at the knife’s edge. This scene of unbridled brutality in the name of observing a thousand-year-old custom was seen again in the Faroe Islands of Denmark. As soon as the picture of the Viking Age ‘The Grind’ festival came to light, the world was met with condemnation. An immediate request to stop this massacre has been made to the government there.

It is known that this hellish festival of death was celebrated on the Faroe Islands on May 27. During ‘The Grind’ around 700 whales and dolphins were caught from the sea and hauled to shore in boats using nets. A large number of people gathered on the beach to witness the murder. Then a group of people fell into the shallow water with knives in hand. Animals are cut into pieces while still alive. The sea turned red with blood due to the brutal killings. The bodies of the dead animals are then spread on the seabed. As this terrible scene spread on social media, there was a storm of condemnation around the world.

Valentina Crust, director of the voluntary organization Sea Shepherd for Global Marine Conservation, said she has repeatedly pleaded with European governments to stop this hellish practice. Although Chiracharit has not taken any initiative to stop this practice. According to multiple reports, at least 402 whales and 300 dolphins were killed during ‘The Grind’. Alyssa Allen, president of the animal rights group PETA, said: “It’s a festival of horrific cruelty. These animals roam the ocean with their families. Their whole families are brutally killed.” The administration of the Faroe Islands, however, claims that “environmental issues are given considerable importance during this festival. They claim that the number of dolphins and whales in the North Atlantic is quite high.”

Reports claim 402 pilot whales were killed in Torshavn, 200 miles north of Scotland, during the festival. 168 white seeded dolphins killed in Skalabotnur. Another 132 dolphins of the same species were killed in Havalvi. Altogether 706 animals died in this massacre. Note that this death festival in the Faroe Islands has been celebrated since the Viking era a thousand years ago. Volunteers claim that there is no need to celebrate it in today’s world. On the other hand, the Parliament of the Faroe Islands has also repealed the Dolphin Conservation Act by amending their Animal Protection Act. Due to which thousands of dolphins and whales have to die every year.
