Helsinki, June 12. Finnish President Alexander Stubb described India as an ‘influential country’ on the global stage and said it was important to listen to New Delhi’s opinion. He said this to Foreign Minister S. on the occasion of ‘Kultarna Talks’ held in Helsinki. Said during the meeting with Jaishankar. After the meeting, Stubb wrote on ‘X’, “Today we met India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar in Kultarna. We discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, and the upcoming G-7 summit. India is an influential country, whose opinion is very important to be heard.” The two leaders exchanged views on the changing global situation and emphasized that diplomacy is very important in today’s uncertain environment.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also shared details of this meeting on “India and Finland are committed to advancing their strategic partnership in the field of digital technology and sustainable development, and strengthening cooperation in multilateral fora on issues of common interest,” he said.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also participated in discussions on “Emerging Powers and New Geopolitical Competition” with Foreign Minister of Finland Elina Valtonen and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Lana Nusseibeh. In this discussion, he said that due to the ongoing conflicts in the world, the impact is not limited to those areas only, but it impacts the entire world. Therefore, the international community should work together to reduce the impact of these conflicts and create an environment for resolution through dialogue.
He said that it is necessary to make the supply chain more strong and diverse, so that the world does not depend on any one source. Jaishankar also reiterated that India’s energy policy is completely based on national interests, and the country buys cheap and available energy as per its needs. He also said that relations between India and the Gulf countries are very important, the foundation of which is based on people-to-people ties, energy cooperation and growing strategic and defense cooperation.
