Jahangir Khan had absconded after the results of West Bengal Assembly elections were announced. He was arrested by West Bengal STF near Nepal border. After which he was brought to fruition and the police is now trying to remove the fear of Jahangir Khan alias Pushpa from the minds of the people.

Seven FIRs have been registered against Jahangir Khan in Phalta police station. All these matters are related to elections. Jahangir Khan had approached the Calcutta High Court for relief after a case was registered against him. Calcutta High Court had given relief to Jahangir from arrest till 18 May. So that he can take part in the re-poll on Phalta seat on 21st May. Just two days before voting in Phalta, Jahangir Khan had announced that he was withdrawing from the election field. However, despite this, Jahangir Khan got around 6000 votes. There was no trace of Jahangir Khan ever since Phalta seat went to BJP’s side. After a lot of effort, West Bengal STF arrested him.
