There was an attack in Beirut just before the peace agreement, President Trump scolded Netanyahu, said – ‘You don’t even have judgment, why did you attack?’
New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel carried out the attacks in Beirut, just when the US and Iran were about to sign an agreement to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Trump has expressed great displeasure over the timing of this attack.
Trump told news website Axios over the phone, "It was very bad. I couldn’t believe it. We were about to sign the agreement, there was just an hour left." He said that Netanyahu did not understand the seriousness of the situation. Trump also expressed his displeasure directly to Netanyahu.
Trump’s truth social post
Earlier, Trump had also written on Truth Social, "The attack on Beirut this morning should not have happened, especially on a day when we were so close to a peace deal with Iran." Trump appealed to all parties to exercise restraint.

He said both Israel and Hezbollah should avoid further attacks, but Iran vowed to respond to Israeli attacks. Iranian military official Mohammad Jafar Asadi said that Israeli forces in Beirut "Crime" Will not remain without answer.
Reference to Hezbollah attack
Israel took this action after Hezbollah fired rockets in northern Israel. Trump says that Hezbollah’s attack did not cause much damage. Still Israel should not have attacked.
Uncertainty remains over the agreement
Trump claimed that the agreement was still on track and could be signed on Sunday, which also happens to be his 80th birthday. But Iran has said that the final decision has not been taken yet. Discussions are going on at political, legal and technical levels.
According to sources, in the draft agreement, America is promising to release Iranian frozen assets worth $25 billion. Iran may agree to not produce nuclear weapons and open the Strait of Hormuz to trade. Iran will maintain its existing nuclear program but will not increase uranium enrichment further.
The American side says that in the final agreement, Iran will have to end its nuclear program and remove its stock of highly enriched uranium. Israel has clearly said that it is not a party to the US-Iran talks and reserves the right to take military action in Lebanon. At the same time, Iran is making permanent ceasefire in Lebanon a condition of any major agreement.
