Flyover will be built at Jiya Chowk on Manali Highway
Preparations for construction of flyover at Jiya Chowk in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh have started. On completion of the project, the problem of traffic jam on Manali Highway will be reduced, while a security wall is also being built on the banks of Beas river to protect the four lane.
Market: Preparations have started for major relief for the people traveling on Manali Highway. NHAI has started survey work regarding the proposed flyover project at Jiya Chowk in Kullu. Along with this, the work of construction of safety wall has also started on the banks of river Beas, which will make the four-lane road safe from the danger of landslides and floods.
Flyover at Zia Chowk will reduce traffic pressure
There is a problem of traffic jam at Jiya Chowk in Kullu district for a long time. In view of this, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has started the process of flyover construction here. A team of experts under the leadership of the project director has inspected the area and started the technical survey.
After the construction of the flyover, the Bhuntar-Manikaran road will be better connected to the main highway. With this, the movement of vehicles going towards Manali will be more smooth and the problem of jam is expected to reduce significantly.
Tourists and local people will get benefits
Manali, Kullu and Manikarna Valley are among the major tourist areas of Himachal Pradesh. During the tourist season, the pressure of vehicles on this route increases significantly, due to which long traffic jams often occur around Zia Chowk.
After the completion of the flyover project, the local people as well as tourists will get better traffic facilities. This will reduce travel time and make transportation in the area more safe and convenient.
Security wall will be built on the banks of Beas river
NHAI has also started another important project to keep the four-lane road safe from natural disasters. About 1300 meter long and 15 meter high concrete protection wall is being built on the banks of river Beas from Jhalogi to Dawada.
This wall will help in protecting the road from the strong flow of the river, erosion and rising water level during monsoon. Officials believe that this will significantly improve the stability and safety of the four-lane road.
Affected families received compensation
Steps have also been taken for construction of four lanes and rehabilitation of people affected by landslides. A total compensation of Rs 12 crore has been issued to about 50 affected families of Thalout area.
Apart from this, safety measures are being taken with the help of modern technology in landslide prone areas. Officials say that efforts are being made to complete the projects expeditiously keeping in mind road safety and the interests of the local people. After the completion of these works, travel on Manali Highway will become safer and easier than before.
