Patna: Bihar government has taken a big step towards honoring the talented players of the state and promoting sports. Recently, taking an important decision, the State Cabinet has approved the appointment of Indian cricket team fast bowlers Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep directly to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Bihar Police. This decision has been taken under the Direct Appointment Rules-2026 of outstanding players of Bihar, which was approved in the recent cabinet meeting.
Both players are part of the Indian cricket team
Both Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep are currently part of the Indian cricket team and have made a name for themselves with their performance in international cricket. Apart from this, both the players have also proved their talent by performing brilliantly in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mukesh Kumar comes from Gopalganj district of Bihar, while Akash Deep belongs to Rohtas district. The success of both the players is being considered an inspiration for the youth of Bihar.
The state government has given this honor to these players for their sports achievements and making the name of Bihar proud at the national and international level. Both the players were part of the Indian cricket team that won the gold medal in the Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China in the year 2023. Along with this, he has contributed in many important matches for the Indian team in recent years. This appointment is being given keeping in mind his consistently good performance and achievements in representing the country.
Proposal sent to Home Department
After getting the approval of the Cabinet, this proposal has been sent to the Home Department to complete the further process. After completion of the appointment, both the players will take charge as DSP in Bihar Police Service. The post of DSP is included in the important gazetted posts of the state government. Under the Seventh Pay Commission, officers appointed to this post get salary and other facilities as per Pay Level 9. Apart from this, government accommodation, vehicle, medical facilities and other administrative benefits are also provided.
This decision of Bihar government is being considered important towards encouraging sports culture in the state. Under the new rules, players who have performed excellently at the national and international level will now be able to get direct opportunities in government services. The government believes that this will increase interest in sports among the youth and more players will be inspired to bring glory to the state and the country. The appointment of Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep is being considered as the first big example of this policy.
