Monsoon in Delhi: Monsoon speed slows down in Delhi, rain may enter in July

This time the hope of relief due to the entry of monsoon in Delhi seems to be postponed for the time being. Usually, monsoon hits the capital around June 27, but this time it is expected to reach in July. According to weather experts, due to the slow pace of monsoon, its entry into Delhi-NCE may be delayed. Due to this, the people of the capital may have to struggle with the scorching heat and humidity for a few more days. Due to delay in monsoon, the effect of increase in temperature and hot winds may also continue. In such a situation, people will have to wait a little longer for relief from rain.

According to meteorologists, the main reason for this is the non-activation of favorable weather systems in the Bay of Bengal and the weakening of the monsoon winds coming from the Arabian Sea. Due to these circumstances, the pace of monsoon has slowed down and at present favorable meteorological conditions are not being created for its further progress.

Weather experts have analyzed the weather conditions in detail regarding the delay in monsoon in Delhi. According to him, every year around June 18-19, a low-pressure system is formed in the Bay of Bengal, which plays an important role in advancing the pace of monsoon. Experts say that after this, the eastern winds pull the moist winds coming from the Arabian Sea and carry them towards the southern peninsula. This process strengthens the monsoon and pushes it further towards the interior parts of the country.

After the activation of this system, this seasonal cycle moves towards northwest India through Odisha, Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, which also includes Delhi. According to meteorologists, this entire pattern is formed like a system of cyclonic winds rotating in an anti-clockwise direction, which helps in advancing the monsoon. But this time this favorable pattern has weakened, due to which the pace of monsoon has slowed down and there may be a delay in its reaching Delhi.

What did the scientists say?

According to meteorologist Mahesh Palawat, the main reason for this is the non-activity of that important weather system over the Bay of Bengal, which usually plays an important role in advancing the monsoon. According to experts, this system pushes the rain-bringing winds towards north-west India and under normal circumstances, the monsoon reaches Delhi around June 27. Mahesh Palawat said that it is expected that a favorable weather system may develop in the Bay of Bengal around June 25-26. After this, the pace of monsoon is likely to improve. He said that this time monsoon may reach Delhi in the first week of July instead of the normal date of June 27.

Monsoon winds also weak

Meteorologists have given another important reason for the delay in monsoon in Delhi. According to him, the monsoon winds coming from the Arabian Sea have weakened this time and have divided into two parts. One part of these is moving towards the southern peninsula, while the other is moving in the direction of Rajasthan. Due to this, the organized flow of monsoon has become weak and its speed towards North India has slowed down.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Krishna Mishra said that the current monsoon flow is seeing a lack of strong and sustained waves coming from the Arabian Sea. According to experts, due to this imbalance, the normal pace of monsoon has been affected, which may delay the onset of rain in Delhi-NCR. The Meteorological Department says that only when the situation improves, the pace of monsoon will increase and the rains will move towards North India.
