UGC NET 2026 first phase exam begins, second shift candidates should not make this mistake

New Delhi: Today is a very important day for lakhs of candidates who are going to appear in the UGC-NET 2026 examination. This examination conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) is being conducted in two phases on 22nd June. The first phase examination has started, while the candidates appearing in the second phase examination should read all the guidelines carefully before reaching the examination centre, because if the prescribed rules are not followed, there may be difficulty in admission. Arriving on time, carrying necessary documents and following the dress code is considered very important for this examination.

UGC NET 2026 exam will be conducted in two different sessions. The first session has started from 9 am and will continue till 12 noon, while the second session will be held from 3 pm to 6 pm. The examination authorities have advised the candidates to reach the center at least two hours before the commencement of the examination. With this, processes like security check, identity verification and registration can be completed on time. Keep in mind that the registration counter will be closed 30 minutes before the start of the examination. After this, no candidate will be allowed entry, even if he has the admit card.

UGC NET Exam Center Guidelines

To maintain fairness and security of the examination, NTA has issued many important guidelines, following which will be mandatory for all the candidates. Candidates have been advised to avoid wearing heavy or overly decorative clothes. Avoid wearing long sleeved clothes as much as possible. If there is a need to wear light woolen clothes due to weather or health reasons, then they can be examined.

Candidates who are coming for the examination in any traditional, cultural or religious attire should reach the center much before the normal time so that there is no delay in the security check. It is considered more convenient to wear slippers or low heel sandals as footwear. If any candidate requires any relaxation in the rules due to health or other special reasons, it will be necessary to take prior permission of NTA for the same.

Important things to carry with you at the examination center

It will be mandatory to carry some documents and essential items with you at the time of entering the examination hall.

Printout of UGC NET Admit Card
Aadhar Card, Passport, Voter ID or other valid photo identity card
Recent passport size photograph matching the photograph uploaded during the application
Certificates required for special category candidates, such as PwD or PwBD certificate
Other required documents mentioned in the admit card

Candidates have been advised to keep all the documents ready in advance on the day of examination so that there is no problem at the last moment.

Carrying these items is completely prohibited

NTA has completely banned many items inside the examination centre. Any type of electronic device will not be allowed to be taken to the examination centre.

Banned items include:

smart fone
bluetooth device
earphones
pager
other electronic gadgets

There will be no arrangement for keeping these items at the examination centres. If any candidate brings such items, he/she will have to arrange for them himself/herself outside the examination centre.

Keep these things in mind before the exam

Candidates have been advised to check the location of the examination center in advance and leave sufficient time for the journey. Check all the necessary documents a day in advance. Adherence to time and following the rules is the easiest way to avoid any kind of trouble on the exam day.
