Vaibhav Suryavanshi: Suryavanshi became emotional after seeing his name on Team India’s jersey, said – ‘I picked up the bat for the first time for this day’
Delhi. Young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi said that being selected in the Indian T20 team is the biggest step in his career and he has no words to express his emotions. Fifteen-year-old Suryavanshi has been selected in the Indian team for the tour of Ireland and England starting from June 26. Playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, he scored 776 runs at a strike rate above 230.
Suryavanshi said in a short video posted by BCCI on social media.Can’t express in words. For this very reason, I picked up the bat on the first day and came to the cricket field for practice. That dream has been fulfilled today.” He said, ”This is the biggest step in my journey. I cannot express these feelings in words.”
Suryavanshi, who started his career from Samastipur in Bihar, scored a century against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. By scoring 101 runs in 38 balls against Gujarat on 28 April 2025, he became the youngest player to score a century in T20 cricket at the age of 14 years and 32 days.
He can become the youngest player to make his debut in international cricket against England or Ireland. This record is in the name of Sachin Tendulkar who made his debut at the age of 16 years 205 days. He said, “This is like a dream come true.” As soon as I saw the t-shirt, I couldn’t stop smiling.
