Tomorrow’s weather, June 24: Alert of heavy rain and strong winds in many states
New Delhi: India Meteorological Department has said that monsoon will be intense in most parts of the country on June 24. There are chances of heavy rain and winds along with thunderstorms in many areas on Wednesday.
Warning of heavy rain in Northeast and Eastern India
According to IMD, there may be heavy rain in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. There are chances of heavy rain at many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
There will also be rain and thundershowers in the plains of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. Strong winds will blow at some places and there may be a problem of waterlogging.
Monsoon active in central and western India
Rain will continue in many parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa and Vidarbha. There is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Goa, Central Maharashtra and South Gujarat.
Due to active monsoon in Chhattisgarh, there will be rain and thundershowers for the next few days. There is an alert of heavy rain at some places with light to moderate rain in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.
The weather of North India will be mixed
Light to moderate rain may occur in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu Kashmir and Punjab Haryana. Delhi NCR will remain cloudy and there will be rain at isolated places with strong winds.
Humidity will remain in eastern Uttar Pradesh, but rainfall may increase in western and Terai areas. There will be sporadic rain in eastern parts of Rajasthan while the weather is expected to remain dry in western districts.
Delhi got relief from heat
There was a big drop in temperature after rain in many areas of Delhi on Tuesday afternoon. People got relief from the heat due to strong winds and rain. The temperature dropped by 10 degrees in Palam, 7 degrees in Safdarjung. The maximum relief was found in Ayanagar, where the mercury fell from 40.6 to 25.7 degrees. Delhi’s minimum temperature was recorded at 26.8 degrees on Tuesday morning.
Yellow alert issued in Mumbai
Moderate rain occurred in many parts of Mumbai on Tuesday morning. South Mumbai and western suburbs received maximum rainfall. The Meteorological Department said that light rain will continue throughout the day.
Yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai for Tuesday and Wednesday. At present there is no possibility of heavy rain, but intermittent showers will continue. Citizens have been advised to be cautious while travelling.
Odisha government on alert
Odisha government has started preparations to deal with the lack of rain due to El Nino. Special monitoring is being kept on eight districts including Devgarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput. The government has set a target of cultivation in 57.88 lakh hectares for Kharif 2026. Stock of seeds and fertilizers has been prepared so that farmers do not face any problem.
