This agreement was reached after four days of talks in Washington. According to reports, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced an agreement with the ambassadors of Israel and Lebanon on Friday, which is being described as the first step towards peace after months of conflict between Israeli forces and the Lebanese extremist group Hezbollah.

Officials did not provide any details about the agreement, which was signed by Israel’s Ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter and Lebanon’s Ambassador to the US Nada Hamdeh. However, complete details of this agreement have not been made public.

Hezbollah will have to accept these conditions
The biggest condition of this agreement is that Hezbollah will have to completely stop all its military activities (Historical Framework) in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah must completely remove its fighters and weapons from this area. According to the agreement, the Lebanese Army will assume effective security responsibility in the southern part. In return, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will gradually withdraw from Lebanese territory.

The Israeli ambassador made it clear that Israel’s aim is to build better neighborly relations with Lebanon so that in future people can move from Tel Aviv to Beirut without any fear. However, it will all depend on how quickly and completely Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure is eliminated from there.

However, Hezbollah has completely rejected the US-backed proposal. The organization’s MP Hassan Fadlallah said that Hezbollah will not give up its weapons under any circumstances. They allege that through this agreement Lebanon is being pushed towards civil war.
