The country gets a new IB Chief, senior IPS officer Dr. Mahesh Dixit will take charge of the Intelligence Bureau, has long experience of working in Kashmir and Leh.

The biggest news of this time related to the country’s internal security and intelligence system is coming from the country’s capital New Delhi. The Central Government has appointed senior IPS officer Dr. Mahesh Dixit as the new director of the country’s most prestigious and important internal intelligence agency ‘Intelligence Bureau’. Dr. Mahesh Dixit is counted among the most dynamic, experienced and strategically thinking intelligence officers of the country.

Tapan Kumar will replace Deka, till now he was holding the post of Special Director.
Dr. Mahesh Dixit is a senior IPS officer of 1993 batch. Before being appointed to this highest post, he was providing important services as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. He will replace the current IB Chief Tapan Kumar Deka, who has been leading the country’s intelligence apparatus by holding this highly sensitive and top post since 2022.

Dr. Mahesh Dixit has deep experience in sensitive matters related to the internal security and borders of the country. He has spent a long and significant part of his illustrious career in the highly sensitive region of Jammu and Kashmir.

Has played a big role as the head of Srinagar SIB
Mahesh Dixit has been the head of IB’s most important wing ‘Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau’ Srinagar. During his tenure, the responsibility of intelligence security of extremely challenging and geo-politically sensitive areas like Jammu, Kashmir Valley and Leh-Ladakh was on his shoulders. During this period, he played an unprecedented role in curbing cross-border infiltration, terror funding and strengthening the local intelligence network.

Seeing his ability and deep understanding of ground reality, the government has entrusted him with this biggest responsibility. Amidst the changing global scenario and new challenges of internal security, it is considered very important for Dr. Mahesh Dixit to become the IB Chief.
