PM Modi reaches Seychelles, warmly welcomed by President Hermini at Victoria Airport
Victoria (Seychelles), June 27. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Seychelles on Saturday on a three-day official visit. Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie welcomed PM Modi at Victoria Airport.
PM Modi thanked the President of Seychelles for the warm welcome. PM Modi also met people of the Indian community there and accepted their greetings by shaking hands.
After reaching Seychelles, PM Modi gave information on social media platform X and wrote, ‘Many thanks to Dr. Patrick Hermini for the warm welcome at the airport. Seychelles is a valued maritime partner and a close friend in the Indian Ocean. Looking forward to a good visit with the aim of further strengthening our longstanding relations and enhancing cooperation for the benefit of the people of our countries.

Earlier, when Seychelles Tourism and Culture Minister Amanda Bernstein was asked whether India is becoming one of the special tourism markets of Seychelles and whether PM Modi’s visit will further increase the number of Indian tourists, she said, ‘Yes, we should hope so. We share the Indian ocean. We are partners in the region and I think if anyone doesn’t know how close we are, we are just four hours away from India.

“We’re very close,” Amanda Bernstein said. We’re also a visa-free destination I think. It will help show people what a wonderful opportunity it is to come to Seychelles and experience our Creole culture, which also has a lot of Indian influence as a part of it. There is a lot for them to admire and come and see.
Before PM Modi’s arrival, posters and tricolor flags have been put up at many places in Beau Vallon and Victoria to welcome him. Earlier in the day, before leaving for Seychelles, PM Modi wrote on social media platform X, ‘Leaving for Seychelles, where I will participate in their National Day celebrations. This year, it is even more special because it is the golden jubilee celebration.
This visit of PM Modi is taking place just a few months after the visit of Seychelles President Hermine to India in February 2026. During the visit, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with Seychelles President Hermine and is also scheduled to address the Seychelles National Assembly and interact with members of the Indian community.
