Thunderstorm alert in 26 districts, heat wave continues in western Rajasthan
Jaipur. The weather has once again taken a turn in Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of storm and rain in 26 districts of the state on Sunday. These weather activities are likely to continue in the state till July 1.
The weather changed in many areas of Udaipur and Kota divisions in the state on Saturday afternoon. Light to moderate rain accompanied by cloud cover occurred in many areas of Udaipur, Pratapgarh, Dungarpur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Pali, Sirohi, Jhalawar and Baran.
Highest rainfall was measured in Banswara district, while other districts including Pratapgarh, Pali also received 1 to 3 inches of rain. After good rains in Gogunda area of Udaipur district, water started flowing into the Bakal river and the rivers and drains were in spate.
At the same time, the weather remained dry in most parts of Bharatpur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions of the state on Saturday. Due to strong sunlight and humidity, the effect of heat continued in Western Rajasthan.
On Saturday, the highest maximum temperature of the state was measured at 43.8 degrees Celsius in Phalodi. Apart from this, 43.2 in Bikaner, 43.0 in Jaisalmer, 42.9 in Barmer, 42.8 in Sriganganagar, 42.2 in Churu, 41.8 in Jodhpur, 41.6 in Tonk,
Temperatures were recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius in Fatehpur and Dausa, 40.7 in Pilani, 40.5 in Pali, 40.4 in Alwar and 40.2 degrees Celsius in Kota and Karauli.
Here, in Ghanghu village of Churu district, crops have been heavily damaged due to the strong storm and stormy rains. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to remain alert, expressing the possibility of strong wind, thunder and rain in many parts of the state for the next few days.
