What is the whole matter?

Many such videos have surfaced in which people are seen suddenly stopping the e-rickshaw from their mobile and it is being told that all this was being done through BAT-BMS app only. There was a debate about whether this could happen through any app. Many questions were being raised regarding security. Now the government has taken action on this. Due to misuse of these apps the government has had to take this action.

How were e-rickshaws stopped?

Actually, the weakness is not in the app, but in the BMS of some cheap lithium batteries. In many batteries the Bluetooth connection remains open without a strong password or security. If a person is in the same Bluetooth range and his battery is compatible with the BAT-BMS app, he can try to connect to the battery. In some cases, this can stop the battery from discharging, causing the e-rickshaw to stop.

Only a few vehicles were affected

However, this does not mean that every e-rickshaw in the country is in danger or that they will be completely closed. This can affect only those e-rickshaws which have Bluetooth compatible BMS and whose security is weak. Even today, a large number of e-rickshaws use ordinary lead-acid batteries, which do not have this type of Bluetooth system. Many companies use their own separate and secure battery management systems, on which this app does not work.
