Doha’s Hamad International Airport (HIA) and Qatar Airways have jointly launched a new biometric service called ‘Fast Pass’ for passengers. Now passengers will not need to show documents again and again and will be able to proceed only by facial recognition.

This system has been made with the technology of SITA company. It has been implemented at more than 700 places at the airport. Passengers can create their biometric profile at the time of check-in, after which they will be able to use facial recognition at various checkpoints at the airport. This service is completely optional, that is, those who do not want to use it, they can complete their process in the old way also.
Who can take advantage of this facility
The service is currently available to Qatar Airways passengers who are aged 18 or over, hold a valid passport and are originating from Doha. At present this facility is not available for disabled passengers, but there are plans to include it in the future.
How to register
Passengers can register themselves for this service in two ways:
- Qatar Airways App: Passengers can do one-time pre-registration through the app, which will be used for subsequent flights.
- Airport Kiosk: On the day of journey, passengers can register by scanning their passport at the self-service kiosk located in Row 3 of the departure area. Passengers with deposited luggage can print bag tags from here and passengers without luggage can proceed directly to security screening.
Where will the face be used?
Once registered, passengers can use their face as a boarding pass at the following locations:
- Self-Service Bag Drop Counter
- Automated Security Gate
- boarding gate
Data security and important instructions
For data security, registration information done through airport kiosks is automatically deleted 24 hours after flight departure. The data of those registering through the app remains on their own devices and is shared with the airport only at the time of travel.
Passengers are advised to always carry their original passport. Passport may be required in case of any technical problem in immigration, e-gates or biometric verification.
