Nissan Motor India has globally unveiled its new premium C-SUV, the all-new Nissan Tecton in India. Considered to be an important step in the company’s revival strategy in India, the SUV based on the ‘One Car, One World’ concept will be manufactured at the Chennai plant. It will also be exported to many countries in the Middle East and Africa along with the Indian market.

Inspired by Nissan’s famous petrol SUV, the Tecton combines attractive design, modern technology and powerful performance. According to the company, this SUV is the only car in its segment to offer a 100 percent turbocharged engine across the range. Apart from this, 280 Nm of torque, Google Built-in connectivity and 700 liter boot space are its key features.

Two engine options are offered in the Tecton. The Turbo T160 engine delivers a fuel efficiency of 19.4 kmpl, while the Turbo T280 engine produces up to 163 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. This engine will be available with a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed wet-clutch DCT gearbox with e-shifter. Both engines use the GT-R inspired Mirror Bore Coating technology.

The company also claims that Tecton is leading in terms of connectivity. Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play are directly available in this SUV and it provides the facility to use more than 200 apps. Also, customers can avail more than 55 connected features through the MyNissan app.

The interior features tri-tone premium cabin, dual digital screens, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, 48-color ambient lighting, wireless charger and smart air purifier. Apart from this, the 700 liter boot space and 212 mm ground clearance will make this SUV useful for daily use as well as long distance travel.

In terms of safety, the Tecton has 6 airbags, over 40 standard safety features and over 17 ADAS features. It includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot warning, driver attention alert, traffic sign recognition and a 360 degree camera.

Guillaume Cartier, Nissan’s Chief Performance Officer, said at the global unveiling that the Tecton is an important step towards building a stronger and more competitive product portfolio in India. Saurabh Vats, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India said that it is a product that reinforces the concept of ‘Made in India, Made for the World’. Although the company is yet to announce the prices of the Tecton, bookings have already begun and customers can reserve the vehicle through Nissan’s official dealerships and digital platforms. This is Nissan’s second major product in 2026 and the company believes that the Tecton will play an important role in strengthening the company’s presence in the Indian SUV market.
