Auckland, 10 July. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in New Zealand on the third and final leg of his six-day foreign tour, on Friday praised the Indian diaspora in Auckland and said that they are keeping India’s cultural heritage alive across generations and in different parts of the world. The Indian community is also further strengthening the strong and long-standing relations between India and New Zealand.

Prime Minister Modi praised the musical presentation of Naad Vocal Ensemble. He said that such cultural presentations work to connect people and reflect the growing friendship between India and New Zealand. He wrote in another post, ‘Very happy to see the wonderful presentation of Naad Vocal Ensemble. Music has the unique power to bring people together and today’s performance beautifully showcased the warmth and depth of India-New Zealand friendship.’

Warm welcome by the Indian community upon arrival at the hotel
The Indian community warmly welcomed PM Modi upon his arrival at the Auckland Hotel. Giving this information on ‘X’, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) wrote, ‘The welcome ceremony featured spectacular presentations of classical music and dance traditions from different parts of India, which showcases the rich culture and diversity of India.’

Prime Minister Modi said that he was touched by the warm welcome given by the Indian community in New Zealand. The enthusiasm of the people reflects the deep connection of NRIs with India. He said in the X post, ‘I was deeply touched by the love and affection of the Indian community of New Zealand. He has waited for four decades for a visit by an Indian Prime Minister and today his enthusiasm and warmth were clearly visible. His relationship with India has always remained strong.

PM Laxan himself arrived at the airport to welcome PM Modi
Before this, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon himself reached the airport to welcome PM Modi as a special honour. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand after nearly 40 years. Both the leaders hugged and welcomed each other warmly at the airport.

PM Modi described his Auckland visit as ‘historic’ and said he looked forward to discussing in detail the relations between the two countries with Prime Minister Luxon. He wrote on ‘X’, ‘Reached Auckland a while back. Thanks to Prime Minister Luxon for welcoming us at the airport. This visit is historic, it is the first Prime Minister’s visit to New Zealand in four decades. I look forward to speaking with Prime Minister Luxon and discussing the overall India-New Zealand friendship. I will also address a community program in Auckland on Saturday.
