Water Metro is going to start in Patna from August, travel will be easy through Ganga; Know the routes, fares and facilities

Patna Water Metro: A very wonderful and very good news is coming for the residents of Patna. To relieve the capital Patna from the problem of traffic jam and to promote tourism, preparations have been completed to start water metro service in Ganga river from the month of August. This unique service, which is going to be started under the supervision of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation, will not only make people’s journey easier, but will also give them a new and wonderful experience of strolling amidst the waves of Ganga. With the start of this service, the pressure of vehicles on the road will be reduced and people’s time will also be saved.

First route from Digha to Kangan Ghat

The first route for this ambitious project has been decided by the administration. The first operation of water metro will be done between Digha Ghat and Kangan Ghat. This entire route is about 15 kilometers long. To cover this distance, a metro boat fully equipped with modern facilities will be used. The capacity of this boat has been kept quite good, so that about 100 tourists or passengers will be able to sit in it at a time and enjoy a safe and comfortable journey.

Modern stations will be built at four major ghats

The Tourism Department has made elaborate arrangements for the boarding and deboarding of passengers. Modern floating jetties i.e. boarding stations have been prepared at four major places on the banks of river Ganga. These stations include Digha Ghat, Gandhi Ghat, Gaighat and Kangan Ghat. Passengers will be able to board the water metro from any of these four stations as per their convenience. After the successful operation of this initial route, the department plans to run metro boat between Digha and Sonpur also, which will further improve the connectivity of the areas across the Ganga.

Ticket through mobile app and the fare will be this much

For the convenience of passengers traveling in water metro, the process of ticket booking is being made digital. For this, a special mobile app and website portal will be launched very soon. Through this app, people will be able to book their seats online while sitting at home. If we talk about fare, according to initial information the fare of water metro is likely to be between Rs 50 to Rs 100. This service will be available to the general public continuously from 10 am to 8 pm.

Boat equipped with hi-tech facilities and safety

This water metro has been made completely modern and environment friendly. To protect the passengers from the heat, the boat has been provided with excellent air conditioning facilities. To run the boat without any interruption, a super charger will be installed at Gandhi Ghat, through which the boat will be fully charged in just 10 to 15 minutes. No stone has been left unturned in terms of security also. Automatic location system and CCTV cameras have been installed in the boat. To deal with emergency situations, it will be remotely monitored from the control room and 3 to 4 rescue boats will always be ready.

Tourism will get a new identity

Bihar State Tourism Corporation and Inland Waterways Authority of India are working together rapidly to get this project off the ground. In this regard, Tourism Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta said that this will be a world class gift for the tourists from the country and the world coming to Patna. This will give a new and bigger identity to the tourism sector of Bihar. The running of water metro in this historical city situated on the banks of river Ganga is going to prove to be a big and important step towards development.
