Nepal burnt in the fire of communal violence, curfew imposed in more than six cities, three people dead so far

Sunsari. The communal violence that broke out in Sunsari District of Nepal has now spread to many cities of Nepal. In the last four days, incidents of violence, arson, vandalism, stone pelting and clashes with police in different parts of the country have raised serious questions on law and order. So far, three people have died in the violence, while dozens have been injured in various incidents, including bullet injuries. The injured also include protesters, local citizens and security personnel. Government and private property was damaged at many places and dozens of vehicles and shops were set on fire.

Communal violence erupts in Nepal, curfew imposed in many districts

Let us tell you that communal violence took place earlier this week in Sunsari district of neighboring Koshi province bordering India. After this, in view of increasing security concerns, Nepali authorities imposed curfew in some parts of Madhes province on Thursday. Let us tell you that three people died in this violence. At the same time, many others were injured.

Curfew imposed after tension

Curfew has been imposed in Dhanusa and Siraha districts of Madhesh province. Assistant Chief District Officer Bhudev Jha, Dhanusha, said that as a precautionary measure, indefinite curfew has been imposed from 3:30 pm due to tension in various parts of Dhanusha, including Lakshminiya Haatbazar, Belauni Road, Nagarain Municipality, Dudhmati Bridge and Janakpur. Similarly, curfew has been imposed in Golbazar area of ​​East-West Highway in Siraha district from 2 pm onwards, according to a notice issued by the District Administrative Office of Siraha district.

What is the whole matter?

It was implemented for the first time in Sunsari district on Monday. After this the curfew was extended indefinitely on Wednesday. The dispute broke out during celebrations by two religious communities in Kaptanganj area on Sunday. After this the police opened fire to disperse the groups fighting among themselves. In which one person died. At the same time, more than a dozen people including security personnel were injured.

Curfew extended in ten areas

Assistant Chief District Officer Poshan Lamichhane said on Thursday that the security situation in Sunsari district is gradually improving. To bring the situation under control, the district administration has extended curfew in ten areas including the East-West Highway. This curfew will remain in force till further orders.

What are the restrictions?

Movement of people, gatherings, demonstrations, public meetings and dharnas have been banned under the curfew. Security has been increased in various sensitive areas and government offices. Several MPs, including Nepali Congress's Basna Thapa and Shram Sanskriti Party's Oren Rai, speaking in Parliament on Thursday, drew the government's attention to the rising tension in districts of southern Nepal, including Sunsari. Prime Minister Balendra Shah has called a meeting of the National Security Council in the country, especially in Sunsari district. Sunsari, located in southeastern Nepal on the border with India's Bihar state, is an important transit and commercial corridor between the two countries.
