Nepal Protest News: Huge outrage against Balen Shah government in Nepal, public angry over youth’s self-immolation
Nepal Protest Massive Public Outrage Against Balen Shah Government: In Nepal, once again the general public has taken to the streets with their demands. Balen Shah’s government, which was elected with an overwhelming majority just a few months ago, is now facing strong opposition. The biggest reason for this huge anger of the public is the continuous strict attitude of the administration and removal of encroachments. Police excesses and the death of a young man have further fueled the anger of the people.
People are angry with the government removing landless slum dwellers without any alternative arrangement. On July 12, hundreds of people held a massive demonstration in Kathmandu against the government’s eviction decision. More than 15,000 people from 2,600 families have been severely displaced by the eviction drive in Kathmandu. The government has announced to give Rs 15,000 as compensation to the people made homeless from the river banks.
Huge anger erupted due to youth’s self-immolation
A 25-year-old youth, Ganesh Nepali, set himself on fire in front of the passport department in Kathmandu on Thursday. The police had locked the wheel of the young man’s motorcycle, after which this terrible dispute escalated. He used to work in ride-sharing and after an argument with the police, he took this dreadful step out of anger. This young man, who suffered 50 percent burns during treatment in the hospital, died tragically, which heated up the atmosphere.
Strict lathicharge on Genji workers
Around 150 people were evacuated from a temporary accommodation center in Kathmandu after flood water filled it. When the youth activists of Gen Z reached there to take stock of the situation, the police did a very strong lathicharge on them. Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa strongly criticized this inhumane police action and demanded his release. In Kosi province too, the police have arrested 26 people who were protesting against the ill-treatment of workers.
Opposition targets Balen government
Opposition party Nepali Congress has made very serious allegations against Balendra Shah’s government of continuously ignoring the general public. He says that this government cares more about the likes on social media than people’s lives. According to experts, in the first 100 days the government has fulfilled only 16 percent of its promises made to the public. Apart from this, people have also suffered a huge loss of 4.5 billion Nepalese rupees in the stock market due to loss of confidence of investors.

Continuous struggle of slum dwellers
Due to this massive campaign to remove encroachment in Nepal, 325 families are forced to live their lives in temporary housing centres. The government had issued an order on July 2 and given strict instructions to vacate all these temporary accommodation centers by July 6. However, even till Thursday, there were more than 60 families present there who are continuously fighting with the government for their rights. This blatant indifference of the government towards the landless people has given rise to a huge political crisis in the entire country.
