Tahir Hussain found guilty: Kejriwal broke silence after the verdict, targeted BJP and AIMIM
Delhi politics has intensified after the conviction of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor Tahir Hussain in the IB officer Ankit Sharma murder and North-East Delhi riots case. About 20 hours after the court’s decision, former Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal reacted for the first time, saying that Tahir Hussain had been expelled from the party long ago. Besides, he also targeted BJP and AIMIM without naming them.
Kejriwal said- Tahir Hussain has no relation with AAP
Responding to BJP leader Amit Malviya’s comment, Arvind Kejriwal wrote on social media that Tahir Hussain was thrown out of the Aam Aadmi Party long ago. He also alleged that Tahir later joined the “ally party” of the BJP. AAP leaders have often described AIMIM as an ally of the BJP.
BJP raised questions on the silence of Kejriwal and Sisodia
After the court’s decision, BJP started cornering the AAP leadership. Delhi government minister Kapil Mishra questioned why Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh did not react immediately after the decision. He said that the silence of the party leadership after the conviction raises many questions.
AAP reiterated – it was suspended in 2020 itself
The Aam Aadmi Party said in its official statement that its primary membership was suspended only after the FIR was registered against Tahir Hussain in the North-East Delhi riot case in the year 2020. The party says that since then he has no connection with AAP. Meanwhile, AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan expressed grief over Tahir Hussain’s case and said that he is hopeful that he will get justice in the higher court.
