Setting a shining example of vigilance and prompt action, the Sikkim Police have safely recovered three minor girls who had suddenly gone missing from South Sikkim within just 24 hours of receiving a complaint. According to information received, these three girls had been missing from their homes since July 29, 2026, and were residents of South Sikkim. The sudden disappearance of the girls created panic among their families, who immediately informed the local police station. Upon receiving the complaint, the police administration swung into action and, without wasting a moment, launched a war-like search operation.
Clues were found with the technical help of the joint police team and cyber cell.
Given the seriousness and sensitivity of the case, a special joint police team was formed under the leadership of PI Sunil Rai, Station House Officer, Timi Police Station, and Rajiv Mukhiya, Station House Officer, Yangyang Police Station. The police utilized both traditional methods and modern technology. During the investigation, the precise location of the girls was continuously tracked with the technical assistance of the Namchi Cyber Cell. Based on this technical surveillance and swift action, the police team immediately departed for Siliguri and recovered two girls safely. While searching for the third girl, the police also safely took her into custody from the Deurali area of Gangtok.
Family members heave a sigh of relief, police work is being appreciated
The safe recovery of three minor girls within a single day has brought relief to their families and local residents. The families have praised the Sikkim Police for their promptness and sensitivity. Initial investigations have revealed that two of the three missing girls were 15 years old and one was 14 years old. Police are currently trying to determine the circumstances under which these girls traveled so far from home to Siliguri and Gangtok. This successful operation has once again proven that timely police action can avert any major crisis.
