The two-day Lucknow District Pickleball Championship began on Saturday at the Pickledome Indoor Court in Chinhat. Players from Lucknow and surrounding districts displayed excellent skills and received applause from the spectators. The inaugural function was held by Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey, General Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association. Rohit Mishra, State President of the BJP Yuva Morcha, was present as the special guest. The program was presided over by Arvind Sharma, President of the Lucknow Pickleball Association. Addressing the players, the General Secretary stated that pickleball is a rapidly emerging sport with ample opportunities to reach the international level. He encouraged the players to progress with discipline and sportsmanship.
The State President of the Yuva Morcha also encouraged the players and personally played pickleball on the court. He also distributed balls to the participants. Association Secretary Dr. Anand Kishore Pandey stated that the association’s goal is to systematically develop pickleball in the city, providing players with regular training and a competitive platform. Following the inauguration, singles competitions began in various age groups. The young players showcased their talent with powerful serves, accurate volleys, and long rallies. Organizing secretaries Ranveer Singh and Rishi Srivastava stated that players in the under-19, under-23, over-23, and over-40 age groups are participating in the championship. Singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches are being played in the competition.
