Relief for RAC ticket holders: Now, complete bedroll kit will be available in AC coaches, Railways issues instructions

New Delhi, August 5. The Ministry of Railways has issued new directives to provide relief to passengers traveling on RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) tickets in AC coaches. Under this directive, the Ministry has directed all railway zones to ensure that RAC ticket holders are provided with a complete bedroll kit, including a sheet, blanket, and pillow.

The Ministry stated that it had been receiving complaints that many passengers traveling on RAC tickets were not receiving bedroll amenities such as a sheet, blanket, and pillow, or were not being provided with the complete kit. This decision was made following repeated complaints. It is noteworthy that two passengers in RAC coaches are required to share a single berth until they obtain a confirmed berth.

The Ministry also clarified that every passenger traveling on a RAC ticket in all AC coaches, except for AC chair cars, must be provided with a complete bedroll kit, just like other confirmed passengers. The Ministry directed all railway zones to strictly enforce this rule so that no passenger faces inconvenience during their journey.

Who to complain to if bedroll is not provided?

The Railways stated that the purpose of the new instructions is to ensure that RAC passengers also receive full bedroll facilities during their travel and do not face any inconvenience. If you do not receive a bedsheet, blanket, or pillow while traveling in an AC coach on an RAC ticket, first request it from the coach attendant or TTE. If the facility is still not provided, you can lodge a complaint through the Railways’ complaint portal or helpline.
