Delhi: Pakistan defeated the West Indies by eight wickets in the second and final Test match played in Port of Spain, registering a resounding victory. This marked Pakistan’s first away win after eight consecutive defeats. After 1,104 days, the Pakistani team has tasted a Test victory on foreign soil. With this win, the two-match series ended in a 1-1 draw.
Pakistan’s batsmen and spinners performed brilliantly in this match. Abdullah Shafique was the hero of the match, scoring a marathon 160 runs in the first innings. Shafique was named Man of the Match for his match-winning knock. Babar Azam and Justin Greaves received Player of the Series awards.
West Indies scored 344 runs in the first innings
West Indies, batting first after winning the toss, scored 344 runs in their first innings. Justin Greaves (73) and captain Roston Chase (70) scored half-centuries to help the team reach a respectable total. Off-spinner Sajid Khan was a lethal bowler for Pakistan, taking 4 wickets for 85 runs. Mohammad Ali, Ubaid Shah, and Ali Usman also took 2 wickets each.
Abdullah Shafiq scored a century, Babar Azam scored 88 runs.
In reply, Pakistan got off to a strong start. Opener Abdullah Shafique scored a brilliant 160 off 323 balls, hitting 15 fours and three sixes. Captain Babar Azam also batted well, but unfortunately missed out on a century after being run out for 88. Azan Awais also contributed 55 runs. Pakistan scored 387 runs in the first innings, taking a crucial 43-run lead. West Indies’ Jomel Warrican took six wickets in Pakistan’s first innings.

Spinners bundle out West Indies for 117
Coming out to bat in the second innings, the West Indies team collapsed like a pack of cards before the Pakistani spinners. The lethal spin duo of Ali Usman (4/39) and Sajid Khan (4/32) dismissed eight West Indies batsmen. The Caribbean team collapsed for just 117 runs in the second innings, leaving Pakistan with a modest target of 75 runs to win. Only Kavem Hodge (34) could hold on for the West Indies.

Babar and Shafiq gave Pakistan an easy win
Chasing a modest target of 75, Pakistan lost Imam-ul-Haq (9) and Azan Awais (18) early, but suffered no setbacks thereafter. First-innings centurion Abdullah Shafique (24*) and captain Babar Azam (24*) combined to take the team to 77 for 2 in 23.3 overs, securing a comfortable eight-wicket victory. Babar hit the winning shot.
