Taking action in Cachar district, police arrested three suspected smugglers and recovered 24,000 suspected Yaba tablets from their possession. According to officials, the estimated market value of the recovered drug pills is estimated to be around Rs 2.4 crore.
While sharing the information about this action, State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police and said that the state government will further intensify its campaign against drug trafficking. This action is being considered an important step towards curbing the illegal drug trade in Assam.
Three people arrested with big consignment of Yaba tablets
According to the police, based on a tip-off, a special operation was launched in Cachar district. During the search, three suspicious persons were detained from whom 24,000 Yaba tablets were recovered. In the preliminary investigation, the recovered tablet is believed to be Yaba. However, final confirmation will come only after forensic testing. Interrogation of the three accused is going on and the police is also investigating their network and supply chain.
What is Yaba tablet?
Yaba is an illegal synthetic drug, which usually contains ingredients such as methamphetamine and caffeine. It is smuggled in the form of small red or pink tablets and is banned in many countries.

Chief Minister praised the police

The scope of investigation was expanded
Police are currently trying to find out from where the recovered Yaba tablets were brought and to what place they were to be delivered. The investigating agencies are also finding out whether this case is related to any big interstate or international smuggling network. Mobile phones, contacts and other electronic evidence of the arrested accused are also being examined. If the investigation reveals involvement of other people, legal action will be taken against them also.
