Tragic accident in Himachal Pradesh: Stones fell from the mountain on Tata Sumo, 13 people died, two injured.
Chamba, 24 July. A tragic accident took place on Friday on the border of Chamba and Lahaul Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh, when several stones fell from the mountain on a Tata Sumo on the Pangi-Udaipur road. Thirteen people in the car, including driver Bir Singh, died while two people were injured after being hit by stones.
Lahaul Spiti district’s SP Shivani Mehla said that the accident took place under police station Udaipur, where stones fell from the hill on a vehicle number HP01M2210 near Kadu Nala. The accident was so horrific that the car was blown to pieces due to falling stones.
Police administration rushed to the spot
DC Chamba Mukesh Repsava said that the place where the accident took place is very remote and there is no signal available, hence there is a problem in getting information about the accident. This area comes in Lahaul Spiti district. In such a situation, along with BRO and local police, a police team from Chamba district has also reached the spot.
CM Sukhu and Deputy CM expressed grief over the accident
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri have expressed grief over the accident. The Chief Minister wrote on his social media platform, ‘I am extremely saddened to hear the news. I pray to God for the speedy and complete recovery of the injured.
Heart is deeply saddened to hear the news of 13 people dying on the spot and two people getting injured due to a rock falling on a Tata Sumo vehicle in Kadu Nala, border area of Pangi and Lahaul-Spiti district. The pain of losing your loved one cannot be expressed in words.

BJP MLA from Bharmour Dr. Janakraj also expressed condolences
BJP MLA from Bharmour of Chamba district, Dr. Janakraj, while sharing the pictures of the accident on social media, has informed that 13 people have died while 2 people have been injured after a mountain fell on a Tata Sumo vehicle on Pangi Udaipur road. All the deceased are from Pangi valley of Chamba district. The MLA has urged the Chamba and Lahaul Spiti district administration to speed up relief operations. Police and rescue teams have left for the incident site.
Expressing grief over the accident, Dr. Janak Raj wrote in X Post, ‘Some people of Pangi Valley were going from Udaipur towards Pangi. On the way, his car got hit by a mountain crack at a place before Kadu drain. 13 people traveling in the vehicle died while 2 people escaped safely. A six-month-old child is also included among the dead. I express my condolences to the families of the victims. The district administrations of Lahaul Spiti and Chamba have been instructed to expedite relief and rescue operations.
