Bahrain-Kuwait attacked Iran’s drone and missile bases, carried out direct airstrike for the first time

New Delhi: The ongoing fierce military conflict between America and Iran is now taking the form of a wide-ranging regional war across the Middle East. The Gulf countries, which for a long time were limited only to the security of their borders and self-defense, have now started direct military attacks against Iran. According to the report of The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Bahrain and Kuwait have sent their Air Force fighter planes to directly target missile depots and drone storage sites inside Iran. To carry out this counter-attack, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have provided strategic help, intelligence and defensive air cover.

Historic change in the strategy of Gulf countries

Till now, the Gulf countries were content with destroying drones and ballistic missiles fired by Iran in mid-air due to fear of conflict spreading further. But after Iran continuously targeted US military installations in the region, Bahrain and Kuwait have opened a direct front. Amidst this entire incident, countries like Oman and Qatar have so far kept distance from any kind of direct military action and are exercising restraint.

Rapid attacks on American bases located in Kuwait

On the other hand, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it has launched massive attacks on US military bases in Kuwait with missiles and ‘Arash’ suicide drones. According to Iran, it has targeted US radar and communications systems at Ali Al Salem airbase, including Camp Udairi, Camp Doha, and Camp Arifjan. Due to these attacks, sirens are echoing throughout Kuwait and Bahrain and citizens are being instructed to stay in safe places and bunkers.

Crisis on the Strait of Hormuz

In response to the continuous bombing of Iran by the US military, Iran has started tightening the noose on the Strait of Hormuz. A large part of the world’s total oil transportation passes through this waterway. If this sea route is disrupted, there may be a huge jump in the prices of crude oil and fuel in the international market, due to which the global economy may fall into a deep economic crisis.
