WWE SmackDown Results Today, August 7: Charlotte Flair Beats Jade Cargill, Randy Orton Confronts Cody Rhodes

WWE SmackDown rolled into Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena on August 7, Friday, 2026, delivering an action-packed night following the events of SummerSlam. The show opened with a touching tribute to wrestling legend Dory Funk Jr., who recently passed away. From there, the night was filled with drama and action. Fans witnessed Cody Rhodes demanding answers from Randy Orton, an intense verbal clash between Kevin Owens and CM Punk, and a championship celebration for Chelsea Green. The night also featured three massive matches, including two title defences and a first-time-ever clash between Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill.

Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and Kevin Owens Kick Off the Show

Cody Rhodes opened the show to address the Philadelphia crowd and call out Randy Orton for hitting him with an RKO at SummerSlam. Before Orton could appear, WWE Undisputed Champion CM Punk walked out, denying he had any idea Orton was going to attack Rhodes.

Soon after, the newly returned Kevin Owens, who is now the number one contender for Punk’s title, joined them in the ring. Owens and Punk traded intense words, with Owens calling Punk the same arrogant sociopath he has always been. Nick Aldis had to step in to stop a physical fight, and Owens made it clear he wants his title match against Punk on August 21 in Toronto.

Baron Corbin vs. Trick Williams (United States Championship)

Trick Williams received his rematch for the United States Championship against Baron Corbin. The match was physical and spilt outside the ring early on, with Williams hitting a huge cross-body move over the barricade. During the match’s closing moments, Corbin managed to use a low blow and struck Williams with the title belt behind the referee’s back. This allowed Corbin to steal the pin and retain his championship. Backstage after the match, Carmelo Hayes attacked Corbin and challenged him to a match next week in Boston.

Chelsea Green’s Celebration Interrupted

Chelsea Green came to the ring to celebrate her WWE Women’s Championship victory from SummerSlam. Accompanied by her best friend Tiffany Stratton, Green thanked the fans as “you deserve it” chants echoed through the arena. However, the celebration was cut short by the group Fatal Influence, who interrupted them and set up a Women’s Tag Team Championship match right then and there.

The impromptu tag team match saw Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton nearly capture the titles with dives and a Swanton bomb. However, Fatal Influence proved to be too cunning. Mid-match, one of the members pulled Stratton out of the ring to the floor, leaving Green totally vulnerable. This allowed Fatal Influence to hit their double-team finisher, the Fatal Flaw, on Green to secure the pinfall and retain the Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Randy Orton Answers Cody Rhodes

Later in the night, Randy Orton finally came to the ring to confront Cody Rhodes. Orton refused to apologise for the RKO. Instead, he told Rhodes that by asking for the “best version” of him, he brought back “The Viper” and the dangerous “Legend Killer”. Orton confidently reminded Cody that this version of him previously beat Rhodes in the middle of the ring at WrestleMania 42.

Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill

In the main event, Charlotte Flair squared off against Jade Cargill in a first-time-ever one-on-one match. Flair dedicated the match to Alexa Bliss, adding a personal touch to the fight. Cargill dominated large portions of the match with her incredible strength, even hitting a powerbomb. B-Fab attempted to interfere on Cargill’s behalf, but NXT’s Tatum Paxley ran out to stop her. Flair capitalised on the ringside distraction, hitting Sister Abigail followed by her signature Natural Selection move to pick up the victory over Cargill.
