Increasing risk of heart attacks in Gujarat: More than 53,000 cases in just 6 months, concern spreads in the state

Gujarat has been witnessing an alarming rise in heart disease cases for some time now. According to recent statistics, heart attack is now becoming a ‘silent killer’ in the state. More than 53,000 cases have been reported from across the state in a short period of just 6 months, which has become a major challenge for the health department. An annual increase of 15.36 percent has been reported in the cases of heart disease, which is giving a serious indication against lifestyle and increasing stress.

Increase in daily cases: Ahmedabad at the forefront

The rising cases of heart disease can be gauged from the fact that the average daily number of cases in the state has increased from 252 to 289 now. Statistically, Ahmedabad district is the most affected, with 13,760 cases reported. Besides Ahmedabad, big cities like Surat, Rajkot and Bhavnagar also figure in the list of top districts in heart disease cases, suggesting that people in urban areas are more at risk.

The imperative of caution and awareness

Doctors are saying that excessive mental stress, unhealthy diet and lack of physical exertion are the main reasons behind this increasing number. If proper diet, regular exercise and regular health checkups are not made a part of life in time, this figure can become more serious in future. It is imperative for every citizen to be aware of his health and take timely medical advice. Are we ready to stop this growing heart attack crisis?
