Team India’s tension increased before the Sri Lanka Test series, Washington Sundar out; Injuries of these players increased tension
Washington Sundar Out India vs Sri Lanka Test Series: Even before the start of the Indian cricket team’s tour of Sri Lanka, the problems of the selectors and team management seem to be increasing. Many key players of Team India are struggling with injury problems for the two-Test series to be held next month.
According to reports, star all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the first Test match to be held in Galle due to injury. Apart from this, there is also a question mark on the fitness of fast bowler Harshit Rana and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Washington Sundar’s injury increases concern
According to BCCI sources, Washington Sundar’s leg injury has not completely healed yet. He suffered this injury during India’s tour of England this month. Sundar is currently undergoing rehabilitation process and the medical team has said that he will be available for the second Test match to be held in Colombo only after complete recovery.
Sundar’s exit is a big blow for the team as he provides strength in the lower order batting as well as in the spin department.
Doubts on Harshit Rana and Nitish Reddy also
The concern for the team is not limited to Sundar alone. Young fast bowlers Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy are also injured. BCCI sources believe that it is doubtful whether these two players will play the entire series. If both of them are out, the team may lack fast bowling and all-rounder options.
Apart from this, the fitness of top-order batsman Sai Sudarshan is also being monitored, although the medical team is hopeful that he will recover in time.
The series is important from WTC point of view
It is mandatory for the Indian team to win this series against Sri Lanka, because Team India wants to remain in the race for the final of the World Test Championship. Injuries to players have affected the balance of the team. In Sundar’s absence, it is almost certain that Ravindra Jadeja will play as a finger spinner. Kuldeep Yadav, Akshar Patel or Manav Suthar may get a chance in the spin department.
Keep an eye on Bumrah’s fitness also
The team’s strike bowler Jasprit Bumrah is currently on rest till July 30. After this he went to Bengaluru based ‘Centre of Excellence’ I will give my fitness report. If Bumrah is not found fit, captain Shubman Gill may have to turn to options like Prasidh Krishna.

Captain Shubhman Gill will take command at number four and Rishabh Pant at number five. The first Test match between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Galle from 15 to 19 August, while the second Test will be played in Colombo (SSC) from 23 to 27 August.
