New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the countrymen in the 136th episode of his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday. He started the program by paying tribute to the martyrs of Kargil Vijay Diwas. He said that Kargil Vijay Diwas is not just a date but a symbol of the indomitable courage and sacrifice of the brave soldiers of the country. He said that the Indian soldiers on the peaks of Kargil did not give up even in adverse circumstances and gave an occasion of pride to the entire country. The Prime Minister also mentioned the Shaurya Vijay Yatra being taken out from Delhi to Dras.

In his address, the Prime Minister especially praised the achievements of the youth of the country. He said that Indian students are continuously setting new records in the field of science. In the recently held Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics Olympiad, Indian participants have brought glory to the country in the world by performing brilliantly. He said that this new generation is strengthening India’s identity at the global level on the strength of self-confidence and talent.

The Prime Minister also mentioned the new achievements in the space sector. He said that the successful launch of Vikram-1 rocket last week was a historic moment for India. This is the country’s first rocket developed by the private sector, which has exposed the new possibilities of the Indian space sector to the world. He said that the innovation, dedication and patience of the youth has proved that India is now moving towards new heights in the field of technology and science.

Some important points of the Prime Minister’s address

Referring to the defense sector, the Prime Minister said that India is continuously becoming stronger on the basis of indigenous technology. He described the induction of indigenous warship INS Mahendragiri into the Navy and the successful testing of Pinaka missile as important achievements for the country’s defense capability.

Speaking on water conservation, he called upon people to save rain water. He said that commendable work has been done in many states under the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign. Thousands of new ponds have been built in Madhya Pradesh and water conservation is being transformed into a mass movement across the country. He said that the water saved today will become the biggest asset of the future.

Referring to the achievements of the sports world, the Prime Minister congratulated the Indian players participating in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. He also praised badminton player PV Sindhu’s victory in the Japan Open and the Indian women’s cricket team’s spectacular success in Test cricket.

On environmental protection, the Prime Minister, while mentioning the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, said that people are planting trees in large numbers across the country. Citing the example of lakhs of saplings being planted within an hour in Ahmedabad and crores of saplings being planted in a single day in Uttar Pradesh, he appealed to the people to increase their participation in nature conservation.

He also emphasized on the campaign of plastic free India. Referring to the initiative of making useful benches from plastic waste in Sitamarhi, Bihar, he said that such efforts are inspiring towards environmental protection. During the upcoming Ganeshotsav, he reiterated his appeal to the people to install eco-friendly Ganesh idol made of clay instead of plaster of Paris and plastic.

In the program, the Prime Minister also stressed on promoting local products, handloom and Khadi. Referring to local products like Wagu mat of Kashmir and herbal tea of ​​Bijnor, he said that procurement of indigenous goods gives new strength to local artisans and small entrepreneurs. On the occasion of National Handloom Day, he urged the countrymen to adopt Khadi and handloom products.

At the end of his address, the Prime Minister paid tribute to former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He also mentioned Guru Purnima and the upcoming Independence Day and appealed to the people to actively participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
