Claim of 1TB data leak

According to the information revealed in the reports, a threat actor has claimed that he has obtained 1TB of data from the bank’s system. This data is reportedly claimed to include customer names, mobile numbers, email IDs, Aadhaar numbers, bank account information, net banking records, loan documents, corporate banking data and some internal files.

Are customers’ money at risk?

Just because there is a claim of data leak does not mean that money will automatically be withdrawn from the bank account. But if a cyber criminal gets hold of personal information, he can try fraud like phishing, fake KYC update, calling by impersonating a bank official, sending fake links or obtaining OTP and net banking information.

Therefore, Bank of Baroda customers need not to panic but remain alert. Do not share OTP, UPI PIN, password or banking information to any unknown call or message. Also, it would be better to change the password of net banking, keep two-factor authentication on and check account transactions regularly.
