Actress Preity Zinta has shared a glimpse of her look test for Hamida, her character in the upcoming period drama 'Batwara 1947', ahead of the film's theatrical release on August 14.

Zinta posted the picture on her official Instagram account, offering fans a look at the appearance she adopted for the character. Dressed in a simple saree with a border and her head covered with the pallu, she completed the understated look with wavy hair and gold bangles.

Sharing the photograph, Zinta reflected on the early stage of her association with the character. “On the eve of the release of Batwara 1947, I wanted to go back to where it all started. This photo was taken at the look test where I saw n felt the first glimpse of Hamida,” she wrote.

Describing Hamida, the actress also quoted the words attributed to Rumi: “If everything around seems dark, look again, you may be the light.”

She invited audiences to watch the film in theaters from August 14.

'Batwara 1947' marks Zinta's return to the big screen after an eight-year gap. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan under Aamir Khan Productions, the film stars Sunny Deol in the lead, with Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh in key roles.

Set in Lahore against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition, the film is said to draw inspiration from Asghar Wajahat's play 'Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai', whose title is based on a popular Punjabi saying about the significance of visiting Lahore.

The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on August 14, 2026.
